Lab Instructions

Installing Ed-Fi ODS / API Databases

1.) From the Ed-Fi Installers folder, select Ed-Fi_ODS_Database_3.2.0.exe and double click to begin installation.  Click "Run" when asked.  

The Ed-Fi ODS Databases Setup Wizard will appear, click Next.

2.) Accept the license agreement after reviewing the terms.

 

3.) At the SQL Database prompt, enter your MACHINENAME in the Server dialog below.  Click "Test Sql Connection" to ensure a "Connection successful" status message.  Click Next.

4.) For purposes of this lab, click "Production" as the Ed-Fi ODS / API environment type.  Click Next.

5.) Allow the installation process to run.

6.) Once finished, click Finish.

Installing Ed-Fi ODS / API Web Sites

1.) From the Ed-Fi Installers folder, select Ed-Fi_ODS_Websites_3.2.0.exe and double click to begin installation.  Click "Run" when asked.

The Ed-Fi ODS Web Setup Wizard will appear, click Next.

2.) Accept the license agreement after reviewing the terms.

3.) For purposes of this lab, click "Production" as the Ed-Fi ODS / API environment type.  Click Next.

4.) Enter "trainee" as the user name, your MACHINENAME as the domain and password.  Click Next.

5.) At the SQL Database prompt, enter your MACHINENAME in the Server dialog below.  Click "Test Sql Connection" to ensure a "Connection successful" status message.  Click Next.

6.) Click Install.  The installation process will begin.

7.) Midway through installation, you will be prompted to install IIS URL Rewrite Module 2.  Click Run.

IIS URL Rewrite Module 2 will launch a setup process.  Click "I accept terms in the License Agreement".  Click Install.

The IIS URL Rewrite Module 2 Setup will install.

Click Finish for this part of the installation process.

9.) Installation will continue.

10.) Click Finish when prompted.

Installing Ed-Fi ODS / API Admin App

1.) From the Ed-Fi Installers folder, select Ed-Fi_ODS_AdminApp_1.6_3.2.exe and double click to begin installation.  Click "Run" when asked.

The Ed-Fi ODS AdminApp Setup Wizard will appear, click Next.

2.) Accept the installation default and click Next.

3.) Enter "trainee" as the user name, MACHINENAME as the domain, and password. Click Next.

4.) At the SQL Database prompt, enter your MACHINENAME in the Server dialog below.  Click "Test Sql Connection" to ensure a "Connection successful" status message.  Click Next.

5.) For purposes of this lab, accept the default of "Shared" ODS API mode.

6.) Click Install.  This will begin the Admin App installation process.

7.) Allow the installation process to run.

8.) The installation will prompt twice about the existing Ed-Fi application pool created above.  Click Yes when prompted.

9.) Once finished, click Finish.

10.) Open Windows Explorer.  Navigate to C:\Ed-Fi\EdFi.Ods.WebApi.  Open Web.Config in Notepad (right click, Open With..., "More apps", Notepad).

11.) Find the value "EdFi_{0}" and replace it with "EdFi_ods" in the first connectionString.  Save the file.

12.)  Open Chrome and navigate to https://MACHINENAME:444/AdminApp.  You'll get an "Additional Setup Required" screen in the browser.  Click Next.

13.) Once installation is complete within 5-10 minutes, you'll receive a success message below.  Click Success.

14.) The Admin App will appear with Settings and Reports tabs.  Click Settings.

15.) On the Settings page, click "ODS Instance".

16.) The tab should show "Warming up Production API...".

17.) Within a few minutes, it should appear as below without error messages.
