2:15 PM - 3:30 PM | Within the Ed-Fi ecosystem, managed service providers provide hosting, support and other services to have an Ed-Fi infrastructure without the burdens of installations, upgrades and other aspects. This session will kick off Special Interest Group (SIG) for managed service providers and tackle issues related to automation, deployment, security and other relevant concerns to this space. |
These broad session notes attempt to capture the spirit of the discussion and should not be interpreted as a transcript. Although Ed-Fi Alliance staff were involved in capturing these observations, the notes below should not be construed as official, complete, or 100% accurate.
The managed service provider offered clarifications and norming on the scope of the MSP SIG. We will focus on problems that affect “at-scale” for multiple deployments of Ed-Fi technology. Topics that emerged from the session which will feed into the MSP SIG:
- row-level security
- serving SEAs and LEAs
- data transfers between SEAs and LEAs
- security at scale and impact on operations
- getting more value from Ed-Fi technology by deploying less
- API performance and throttling
- Ed-Fi & MSP roadmap alignment.
We will be following up after Tech Congress, which will form the MSP SIG shortly thereafter. Lots of agreement for the need of the SIG and continued feedback cycles to Ed-Fi.
Please see Managed Service Providers as the space to continue items from this initial discussion.
