2:15 PM - 3:15 PM | Upgrading to Ed-Fi 3.0 for 2019-2020 School Year - Working Session Las Palmas B For those vendors, states and districts that are creating a plan for upgrading to the Ed-Fi ODS API 3.0 and Data Standard 3.0. This is a session to share and benchmark your planning with other agencies, ask questions and get answers, discuss necessary resources, and plan collaborations. |
These broad session notes attempt to capture the spirit of the discussion and should not be interpreted as a transcript. Although Ed-Fi Alliance staff were involved in capturing these observations, the notes below should not be construed as official, complete, or 100% accurate.
Discussion items
Request from AZ for Ed-Fi to provide an analysis of what’s changing in the upgrade to help them do their due diligence of cascading impact to their extensions
WI plans to review/research the RFC now so they can begin development in June.
Thinks they can get their review done by 5/25.
NE also thinks 5/25 is ambitious.
A great idea that came out of NE:
Involve districts in certification staging environments
Allows you to align certification environment with production environments
Question around: Ed-Fi won’t ever touch student data directly. What if Ed-Fi managed core certification; states manage extension certification?
Next Steps identified
Form a special interest group
Regularly scheduled calls to share
Fieldtrips or regional targeted meetings or bootcamps
Slack Channel
Jira page for obstacles, how the SEA team overcame it, who the developer point of contact is
Sayee will demo and share the extension report in MappingEdu
Create a SIG about how to manage this work to see if it’s applicable for managing extension coordination across SEAs going forward, for common areas/approaches states share
